UPDATE: New Jersey residents are bracing for a frigid Halloween night as strong winds, gusting up to 50 mph, are expected to persist through Friday. Wind advisories are in effect for all 21 counties until midnight, posing potential hazards for outdoor celebrations.
The National Weather Service warns that these intense winds will peak in the late afternoon and early evening, with sustained speeds near 30 mph and gusts particularly strong along the coast. This weather could significantly impact trick-or-treating activities, with officials advising families to secure decorations and dress warmly.
Temperatures are forecasted to plummet into the 40s, and some interior areas may drop to as low as 35 degrees. As the temperature dips, those heading out for Halloween festivities should prepare for the biting cold, coupled with the fierce winds.
In addition to tonight’s chilling conditions, Saturday will remain breezy with gusts reaching 25 to 30 mph near coastal regions. However, the winds are expected to diminish by Saturday evening as a high-pressure system builds in from the west. Daytime temperatures on Saturday will reach the upper 50s to around 60 degrees, and nights will see lows ranging from the 30s to low 40s, with frost likely in more inland areas.
Looking ahead, a developing low-pressure system off the Mid-Atlantic coast could bring light rain to southern New Jersey on Sunday. Lows Sunday night will range from the mid-30s to low 40s. A cold front is expected to pass through by Monday night, introducing additional chances for showers, although rain amounts are predicted to remain light.
Residents are advised to monitor weather updates closely, especially as conditions may rapidly change. With Halloween just hours away, make sure to stay safe and warm amid the wicked winds.
