Nishant Grover has been appointed president of Ericsson Canada, effective immediately. He succeeds Jeanette Irekvist, who is returning to Sweden after leading the company since 2020. Grover’s appointment reflects his extensive experience with Ericsson, where he has held various senior roles over the past 18 years, most recently as the head of network product sales within the AT&T customer unit.
In his new role, Grover aims to build on Ericsson’s strong foundation in Canada, where the company has a rich history of over 70 years. He stated, “Canada and Ericsson are both leaders in many important fields including AI, quantum, and advanced mobile network research.” Grover emphasized the significance of Ericsson’s world-class research and development facilities located in Ottawa and Montreal, which are pivotal to its global innovation strategies.
Commitment to Innovation and Growth
Under Grover’s leadership, Ericsson Canada is set to continue its commitment to innovation. The company invests an average of $345 million annually in research and development, significantly contributing to the Canadian tech landscape. Grover’s leadership is expected to drive further advancements, particularly in fostering the adoption of 5G technology across the country.
Ericsson is also a key player in the national ecosystem network aimed at promoting collaboration and enhancing 5G adoption in Canada. This initiative aligns with Grover’s vision of leveraging Ericsson’s strengths to drive growth and innovation in the telecommunications sector.
A Legacy of Leadership
Jeanette Irekvist’s tenure at Ericsson Canada began in 2020 and was marked by significant achievements in expanding the company’s footprint and enhancing its market presence. Her return to Sweden marks the end of a successful chapter for the Canadian division, paving the way for Grover to bring his unique perspective and experience to the leadership role.
As Grover steps into this pivotal position, the telecommunications industry will be watching closely to see how his leadership will shape the future of Ericsson Canada and contribute to the broader tech ecosystem in the region.
