Yankees Surge Past Twins 10-5 with Grisham’s Two Homers

UPDATE: The New York Yankees delivered a stunning performance against the Minnesota Twins, winning 10-5 on Wednesday night in Minneapolis. Trent Grisham stole the spotlight with two home runs, propelling the Yankees closer to the top of the AL East standings.

Grisham’s explosive night began in the third inning when he blasted a solo homer off Twins pitcher Taj Bradley, tying the game at 2-all. He followed up with a breathtaking three-run shot in the fourth, marking his 33rd home run of the season, which sailed into the right-field plaza, extending New York’s lead to 6-2.

The Yankees’ offensive surge was complemented by Cody Bellinger, who also contributed a two-run homer in the ninth inning. Aaron Judge continued to solidify his place as a top hitter, going 3 for 4 and raising his major league-leading batting average to .329.

On the mound, Luis Gil pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits. The Yankees’ bullpen was impressive, with four relievers combining to shut out the Twins for the remainder of the game. Notably, Fernando Cruz earned the win, getting crucial outs to maintain the Yankees’ lead.

The Twins attempted to rally in the fifth with a three-run inning, highlighted by Brooks Lee’s two-run single, closing the gap to 7-5. However, a pivotal moment came when Bellinger made a stunning catch on a line drive from Royce Lewis, preventing further scoring and preserving New York’s lead.

With this victory, the Yankees are now just four games behind the first-place Toronto Blue Jays in the AL East, creating an exciting race as the season progresses.

Next, the Yankees will head to Baltimore for a four-game series, starting on Thursday with Max Fried (17-5, 3.03 ERA) on the mound. Meanwhile, the Twins will welcome the Cleveland Guardians on Friday, featuring Pablo López (5-4, 2.64) as their starting pitcher.

Stay tuned as the postseason race heats up!
