UPDATE: A woman has been arrested following a shocking stabbing inside the iconic Macy’s flagship store in Manhattan on Thursday afternoon. Kerri Aherne, 43, from Massachusetts, faces serious charges including attempted murder and assault with a weapon after the brutal attack.
Police responded to a distress call at 1:15 p.m. from the seventh floor of Macy’s Herald Square. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 38-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds to her back and a deep cut on her right arm. The victim was swiftly transported to a local hospital, where she is currently reported to be in stable condition.
This incident marks the second violent attack inside the famous New York City department store in less than a month. On November 19, a 71-year-old man was also assaulted unprovoked when Donna Francis, 65, struck him multiple times on the head with an object believed to be a cell phone. That victim suffered from deep internal bruising and was treated at a local hospital. Francis was subsequently arrested and charged with assault.
The recent string of violence within Macy’s raises serious concerns about safety in one of New York City’s busiest shopping destinations. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant as investigations continue.
