UPDATE: A South Euclid man, aged 47, has been arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) following a hit-skip crash that occurred on December 3, 2023, at 10:30 p.m. Police in Lyndhurst responded to reports of a two-car collision in front of the Walgreens at 5644 Mayfield Road.
Witnesses stated that the driver of a white Toyota, who fled the scene, exhibited signs of intoxication. Officers quickly located the suspect’s vehicle at 1443 Richmond Road, outside CVS/Pharmacy. Upon stopping the vehicle, authorities confirmed that the driver was indeed intoxicated. He refused a breath test and was arrested on charges of OVI and hit-skip.
This incident raises significant public safety concerns, highlighting the dangers of drunk driving. The police urge anyone with further information about the incident to come forward.
In a separate incident, at 4:40 p.m. on December 6, loss prevention staff at L.L. Bean on 25225 Cedar Road reported a theft that occurred on November 29. A 65-year-old man from Cleveland allegedly stole merchandise valued at $1,020. The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed yet.
Additionally, on December 1, a representative from The Makeup Institute at 5678 Mayfield Road reported fraudulent checks written from the business account, totaling $931.64. Authorities are currently investigating the matter.
In a concerning psychiatric incident, police responded on December 2 at 11:45 a.m. to a distress call on Kilbourne Drive. A woman could be heard pleading with her husband to “Put the gun down.” Emergency services quickly intervened, and the 51-year-old male was transported to MetroHealth Hospital for evaluation.
Finally, disturbances were reported on Kenton Circle on December 4 when a 56-year-old woman requested police assistance regarding her intoxicated husband, who refused transport to a rehabilitation facility.
