Urgent Recall: Over 5 Million Above-Ground Pools Due to Drowning Risk

URGENT UPDATE: Millions of above-ground pools are now under recall due to a serious drowning risk for children. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has confirmed that pools from the brands Bestway, Intex, and Polygroup are implicated in this alarming safety issue. The recall affects pools that are 48 inches or taller and feature compression straps around the exterior.

The CPSC warns that these straps could provide a foothold for children, potentially allowing them to access the water and drown. Disturbingly, there have been reports of nine child drownings connected to these pools over the last 15 years. The recalled products have been sold at major retailers including Walmart, Target, Home Depot, and Costco since 2002.

If you own one of these pools, it is critical to stop using it immediately. The CPSC is urging all consumers to act quickly to prevent further tragedies.

Fortunately, there are numerous safe alternatives available on the market that do not utilize the recalled strap system. Many of these options are currently on sale, offering families a chance to replace potentially dangerous products with safer choices.
