BREAKING: High school basketball star Ethan Taylor has officially committed to Michigan State, making waves in the college basketball recruiting scene. This announcement, made on October 20, 2023, propels the Spartans into the top three of the 2026 recruiting class rankings.
Taylor, a top-35 senior and a standout center, visited Michigan State in early October, where he experienced the electric atmosphere of the program firsthand. “When I was looking for a school, Michigan State checked all my boxes,” Taylor stated. “The fanbase is amazing, and I felt the immense love from them; they treated me like I was part of the team on my visit.”
During his visit, Taylor attended Michigan State Madness, where he was greeted with chants from the fans. “The Izzone was insane,” he added. His commitment comes after considering offers from powerhouse programs including Kansas, Oregon, and Indiana.
Taylor’s relationship with Tom Izzo played a pivotal role in his decision. “Coach Izzo is incredibly passionate and truly cares about his team,” Taylor explained. “He treats players like family and pushes you to be your best while holding you accountable.” The culture at Michigan State, highlighted by former players returning for ‘Grind Week,’ impressed Taylor greatly.
As of now, Michigan State holds the No. 6 recruiting class in the nation, which includes prospects like Jasiah Jervis (No. 50), Julius Avent (No. 70), and Carlos Medlock Jr. (No. 89). With Taylor ranked as the highest commitment, his addition is likely to elevate the Spartans into the top three.
Boasting an impressive summer with MoKan Elite on the Nike EYBL circuit, Taylor averaged 9.4 points and 8.8 rebounds, shooting over 69% from the field. His ability to run the floor, rebound consistently, and protect the rim makes him a valuable asset heading into the future.
Taylor, currently ranked as the No. 3 center in the 2026 class and the No. 32 prospect overall, is set to fill the shoes of outgoing players like Jaxon Kohler and Carson Cooper, both seniors, as the Spartans gear up for the 2026-27 season.
As the recruiting landscape shifts rapidly, Michigan State fans are already buzzing with excitement over the latest commitment. Stay tuned for more updates on the 2026 class as they unfold.
