Scooter Braun Declares He No Longer Knows Kanye West Amid Controversy

UPDATE: Scooter Braun has publicly severed ties with former client Kanye West over the rapper’s controversial antisemitic remarks, declaring, “I don’t know him anymore.” This statement was made during an episode of “Question Everything” with Danielle Robay that aired on Thursday.

Braun, a prominent music executive and Jewish businessman, expressed deep disappointment in West’s behavior, stating, “The person that I knew isn’t someone who says those things.” His remarks come amid ongoing scrutiny of West’s antisemitic tirades, which have significantly impacted his career and reputation.

The 44-year-old Braun emphasized the emotional toll of this disconnection, saying, “Sometimes the hardest thing to do about someone you care about is mourn them while they are still here.” He clarified that he no longer maintains a relationship with West, 48, adding, “I don’t know him, and I think right now, I have three beautiful kids that need a dad to focus on them.”

Braun’s three children—Jagger, 9, Levi, 7, and Hart, 5—whom he shares with ex-wife Yael Cohen, are his priority as he navigates this fallout. He stated, “I’d rather stand proudly with who I am and who my people are and be gracious and kind to all people than be a part of that,” clearly distancing himself from West’s recent behavior.

The music mogul further articulated his stance, asserting he holds “no ill will” toward West but is committed to positivity. He remarked, “I’d rather be someone who’s focused on positivity and being damn proud of who I am and who my grandparents were,” showcasing his dedication to his heritage and values.

While West has issued multiple apologies for his past comments, including a recent statement in May where he declared, “I am done with antisemitism,” his behavior continues to raise concerns. The “Heartless” rapper has faced significant backlash, including losing major brand partnerships with companies like Balenciaga and Adidas, following his antisemitic outbursts in 2022.

Despite Braun’s frustration, he clarified that he has no regrets about the artists he has managed throughout his career, stating, “I love my life.” This comment reflects his determination to focus on his family’s well-being and his professional endeavors.

As this situation unfolds, the impact of Braun’s statements and West’s ongoing controversy remains to be seen. The public and industry reactions could further shape both men’s futures in the music scene.
