Rangers Activate Adolis García from IL as Playoff Push Intensifies

UPDATE: The Texas Rangers have activated outfielder Adolis García from the 10-day injured list just in time for their crucial playoff push. The activation comes as the Rangers face the New York Mets in a pivotal series finale today.

García, who missed ten games due to a strained right quad, is set to bat fourth and play right field in this afternoon’s matchup. This marks his second stint on the injured list in just a month, having previously been sidelined with a sprained left ankle from August 13 to August 22.

Before his latest injury, García was on fire, hitting .368 with two home runs, nine RBIs, and three stolen bases in just nine games following his return from the ankle injury. His last injury occurred while he was attempting to beat out a potential double-play grounder against the Arizona Diamondbacks on September 1.

“It’s always good to get one of your core guys back,” said Rangers manager Bruce Bochy. “He was really swinging the bat well when he got hurt.”

Despite a series of injuries impacting their roster, the Rangers entered today on a remarkable six-game winning streak, boasting the best record in Major League Baseball (16-4) since August 23. Currently, they trail the Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners by just two games in the AL West race.

In a move to accommodate García’s return, the Rangers optioned outfielder Dustin Harris to Triple-A Round Rock. However, the team is still grappling with significant injuries, as second baseman Marcus Semien (left foot) and pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (right rotator cuff) are expected to miss the remainder of the regular season. Meanwhile, shortstop Corey Seager is recovering from an appendectomy.

As the playoff race heats up, all eyes will be on García to see if he can help propel the Rangers back to the postseason.
