UPDATE: In a stunning display of skill, Ramapo High School has advanced to the NJSIAA Section 1 Group 4 final after a decisive 48-20 victory over Wayne Valley on November 7, 2025. The top-seeded Ramapo, ranked No. 8 in the NJ.com Top 20, showcased their dominance at Drew Gibbs Memorial Field in Franklin Lakes.
Quarterback Casey Grusser was the star of the night, throwing four touchdowns in the first half alone and adding a rushing score to lead his team to victory. With this win, Ramapo improves their record to 9-1 and secures an eighth consecutive trip to the sectional final.
The game took a decisive turn in the second quarter when Ramapo broke open a close match. Grusser opened the scoring with a 44-yard TD pass to Joseph Yessis, then put Ramapo ahead for good with a 1-yard TD run later in the first quarter. Just over nine minutes into the second quarter, he connected with Salvatore Livoti on a 20-yard TD pass, followed by touchdown passes to both Yessis (9 yards) and Michael Ballan (16 yards), extending their lead to 42-7.
Jack Schneider also made his mark, returning an interception for a 43-yard touchdown that further solidified Ramapo’s control. In the fourth quarter, Joey Gorga added to the tally with another score.
On the other side of the field, Wayne Valley’s Danny Ferrauilo threw three touchdown passes, including two to Jadon Cabrales for impressive gains of 19 and 94 yards. Wayne Valley managed to tie the game at 7-7 early in the first quarter with a 24-yard TD pass to Kyle Betz.
As Ramapo prepares for the final, they will host Northern Highlands, the second seed and currently ranked No. 9, who they previously defeated 28-21 on October 24. This upcoming match promises to be a thrilling rematch as Ramapo aims for their third consecutive sectional title and 15th overall.
