NFL Week 17 Fantasy Insights: Key Starts and Sits Revealed Now

UPDATE: Fantasy football decisions are reaching a critical point as players make their final moves for NFL Week 17. With playoff spots on the line, this week’s insights spotlight must-start athletes and risky players to avoid.

The stakes are high, and every decision carries championship weight. Baker Mayfield of the Buccaneers is set to shine against the Miami Dolphins this week as Tampa Bay fights for their playoff future. Expect Mayfield to deliver big numbers with a full roster of pass catchers against a favorable matchup.

Other must-start quarterbacks include Brock Purdy facing the Bears, Drake Maye against the Jets, and Jacoby Brissett taking on the Bengals.

On the flip side, Justin Herbert of the Chargers is a player to avoid this week against the Texans. The Houston defense has proven to be a nightmare for Herbert, consistently pressuring his offensive line and limiting his ability to make big plays. This week, with conservative play-calling and an ineffective red zone strategy, Herbert simply lacks the upside needed for championship week.

Moving to running backs, Omarion Hampton of the Chargers is a standout choice. He has solidified his role as LA’s leading early-down back and is positioned to exploit a vulnerable Houston run defense. With projected touches between 18 to 22, Hampton offers reliable value as a solid RB2.

Other running backs worth starting include James Cook against the Eagles, Travis Etienne vs. the Colts, and Chase Brown taking on the Cardinals. However, caution is advised with Aaron Jones Sr. of the Vikings, whose touchdown dependency makes him a risky play against a strong Lions defense.

At wide receiver, Jaylen Waddle from the Dolphins could be the game-changer you need. His speed poses a significant threat to Tampa Bay’s struggling secondary, and as Miami’s top option, he’s primed for a big performance in this high-stakes environment.

Other recommended receivers include Tee Higgins vs. Cardinals, Jauan Jennings against the Bears, and CeeDee Lamb facing the Commanders. On the contrary, Terry McLaurin is a player to sidestep this week due to the uncertainty surrounding Washington’s quarterback situation.

Finally, tight ends are looking at Hunter Henry as a key start against the Jets. He has become a central figure in the Patriots’ passing game, especially in crucial moments, making him a reliable TE1 in a challenging position.

However, Mark Andrews of the Ravens should be avoided. His recent performance has been disappointing, and his dependency on touchdowns makes him a risky option this week.

Stay tuned for the latest fantasy insights as NFL Week 17 unfolds. Every decision matters in this critical playoff push!
