Brian Austin Green, best known for his role in the hit series Beverly Hills, 90210, has disclosed details about a secret romance with actress Tichina Arnold during a recent appearance on Deon Cole’s podcast, Funny Knowing You. The relationship, which took place in the 1990s when both stars were in their twenties, was marked by a significant confidentiality agreement set by Arnold.
Green, now 52, shared that from the outset of their relationship, Arnold made it clear that their connection had to remain private. “She was very clear on day one of like, ‘Nobody can know about this,’” he recalled. The two bonded over a mutual love for hip-hop, which led to frequent collaborations at Green’s home. He described their time together as a mix of “fooling around and kind of dating.”
Despite the initial excitement, Green expressed feelings of insecurity stemming from Arnold’s desire for secrecy. “I think for me it really triggered something, like, ‘I’m not really good enough for any of this. You don’t even want your friends to know that you’re hanging out with me,’” he stated. Nevertheless, he emphasized that he harbors no resentment towards Arnold, describing her as “my girl” and affirming their supportive friendship.
In a previous episode of the podcast, Arnold, 56, explained why their romance ultimately concluded. She stated, “I told him. I said, ‘The reason why we’ve come to the end of our road is because I see you dating all these Black women. Now you’re dating me, and you’re not going to end up with a Black woman.’” Arnold voiced concerns that Green would eventually choose to share his life and legacy with someone outside of their community. “I’m getting off this train. I told you I’m very good with endings,” she added.
Reflecting on their time together, Arnold acknowledged that while she sensed the relationship wasn’t heading towards a long-term future, it was nonetheless a positive experience. “I’m just attracted to Black men, like, that’s my natural,” she said, emphasizing the physical and emotional chemistry she felt.
Green also confirmed that during that period, he primarily dated Black women, due in part to his frequent visits to hip-hop clubs where he met individuals with shared interests. “I was dating majority Black women at the time because it was like we had common interests. We had things that we were doing together,” he explained.
Following his relationship with Arnold, Green became engaged to his 90210 co-star Vanessa Marcil, with whom he shares a child. He later entered a long-term relationship with actress Megan Fox, with whom he has three children: Noah, 12, Bodhi, 10, and Journey, 8. The couple separated in 2020. Currently, Green is engaged to his Dancing With the Stars partner Sharna Burgess, with whom he welcomed a child in 2022.
The revelations from both Green and Arnold provide a glimpse into the complexities of their relationship, shaped by the pressures of fame and personal preferences. As they continue their respective journeys, both actors remain supportive of one another, reflecting on a shared history that has left a lasting impact.
