Matthew Lillard Reacts to Tarantino’s Harsh Criticism of Dano

BREAKING: Actor Matthew Lillard has responded to Quentin Tarantino‘s scathing remarks about fellow actor Paul Dano, calling him the “weakest male actor in SAG.” Lillard’s reaction came during a fan convention at GalaxyCon Columbus just hours after Tarantino’s criticism aired on a podcast.

During the event, Lillard addressed the audience, stating, “Quentin Tarantino this week said he didn’t like me as an actor,” which prompted boos from fans. He continued, “Eh, whatever. Who gives a shit. The point is that it hurts your feelings. It fucking sucks.” Lillard emphasized that such comments would not be directed at top-tier stars like Tom Cruise, highlighting the sting of Tarantino’s words.

Earlier this week, on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast, Tarantino criticized Dano while discussing his favorite films of the 21st century. He ranked Paul Thomas Anderson‘s acclaimed film There Will Be Blood at No. 5 but derided Dano’s performance, saying, “He is weak sauce, man. He’s a weak sister.” The director’s remarks drew significant attention and controversy within the film community.

Lillard also reflected on his own career, noting, “I’m very popular in this room. I’m not very popular in Hollywood,” referring to the contrasting perceptions of fame and talent. He added, “It’s humbling and it hurts,” shedding light on the emotional impact of public criticism.

As of now, Paul Dano has not publicly responded to Tarantino’s statements. However, director Matt Reeves defended Dano on social media, stating, “Paul Dano is an incredible actor, and an incredible person,” demonstrating support from fellow filmmakers amidst the controversy.

The fallout from Tarantino’s comments is still developing, with many in Hollywood watching closely to see how Dano and others respond. This situation has reignited discussions about the responsibilities of influential filmmakers in their public critiques of actors.

Stay tuned for updates as this story evolves, and watch for reactions from both Dano and the broader film community in the coming days.
