Mariners’ Miller, Robles Set to Make Urgent Returns from Injuries

UPDATE: Mariners starting pitcher Bryce Miller and outfielder Victor Robles are on the verge of returning to action, with significant updates emerging just hours before the team’s series opener against the Chicago White Sox.

General Manager Justin Hollander provided the latest news on the players’ recovery during a press conference earlier today. Miller, who has struggled with right elbow inflammation, is set to make his second rehab start on Thursday with Triple-A Tacoma. Hollander indicated that Miller may require one more start before he can rejoin the Mariners’ rotation. “No matter how much Bryce begs for that to be the last one,” Hollander stated. “Stuff looked top of the scale. He told me that was the best he’s felt, including Day 1 of spring training.”

Robles, sidelined since April due to a dislocated left shoulder, is expected to begin his rehab assignment on August 12. The outfielder has a batting average of .273 with three RBIs this season and is eager to return to the field. Hollander detailed that Robles’ initial days will involve designated hitting before gradually integrating him back into outfield play, replicating his spring training regimen.

The Mariners are also monitoring other players in recovery. Infielder Ryan Bliss is targeting a rehab assignment in September, while utilityman Luke Raley, who was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 27, has begun hitting progression and could be back as early as this weekend against Tampa Bay.

In a separate but critical update, reliever Trent Thornton underwent successful surgery for an Achilles injury and is expected to face a recovery period of six to eight months.

The Mariners’ upcoming games will be pivotal as they prepare for the returns of Miller and Robles, both key players in their quest for postseason success. Fans are eager for their comeback as the team navigates the competitive landscape of Major League Baseball.

Stay tuned for more updates as these players continue their recovery journeys and the Mariners strive for a playoff push.
