Lenovo Launches Premium Legion Go 2 with SteamOS at CES 2026

URGENT UPDATE: Lenovo has just unveiled its highly anticipated handheld gaming console, the Legion Go 2, powered by SteamOS, during the ongoing CES 2026 event. This new device promises to deliver a powerful gaming experience, but it comes with a staggering price tag of $1,200.

The Legion Go 2 boasts an impressive 8.8-inch PureSight OLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200p, detachable magnetic controllers, and advanced Hall effect joysticks. Equipped with the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip, this handheld is touted as Lenovo’s most powerful gaming console to date. It features 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory, up to 2TB PCIe SSD storage, and a substantial 74WHr battery.

Thanks to the SteamOS integration, the Legion Go 2 promises seamless gaming experiences with plug-and-play functionality, full access to the Steam Library, Steam Chat, built-in game recording, and centralized notifications. Users can expand storage using a microSD slot supporting up to 2TB of external memory.

However, the price hike to $1,200 raises concerns among gamers, especially when compared to its competitors like the ASUS ROG Ally X, which starts at $999. Industry analysts point to global RAM price increases and other factors affecting production costs as the reason behind this steep price surge.

The market response remains uncertain as consumers weigh the value of the Legion Go 2 against its hefty price tag. Lenovo has yet to announce an official release date, leaving eager fans in suspense.

As the gaming community watches closely, the Legion Go 2’s performance in a competitive landscape will be crucial. Will this premium-priced handheld capture the hearts of gamers? Stay tuned for updates as this story develops.
