BREAKING: Dalton State’s Kylie Gray has been just announced as a member of the 2025 SSAC Women’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team, highlighting her exceptional performance both academically and athletically. This prestigious recognition underscores Gray’s achievement as one of only three student-athletes to maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA.
This announcement, made earlier today in Montgomery, Alabama, confirms Gray’s elite status, as every athlete named to the team finished in the top-13 at the SSAC Championship, earning All-Conference honors. The title of Scholar-Athlete of the Year was awarded to William Carey’s Kristina Stojanovic.
Gray not only excels in the classroom but has also made significant strides on the cross-country trails. She recorded a season-best 5K time of 19:10 during the NAIA Appalachian Challenge and a 6K time of 23:27, achieved at both the SSAC Championship and the UAH Charger Invitational. Her strongest finish this season was a commendable 4th place at the Mountainside Stride, alongside a 43rd place finish at the NAIA Appalachian Challenge.
To qualify for the SSAC Scholar-Athlete Team, student-athletes must be sophomores or above, starters or key reserves, maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA, and compete in 50% of team events. Graduate students and transfers are also eligible if they have completed one semester at their institution.
This recognition not only celebrates Gray’s hard work and dedication but also serves as an inspiration to many aspiring student-athletes who strive to balance academic excellence with competitive sports. As the cross-country season progresses, all eyes will be on her as she continues to shine on the course and in the classroom.
Stay tuned for more updates on her journey and the latest developments in collegiate athletics.
