BREAKING: New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge has received a significant health update—he will NOT require surgery on his right elbow. However, left-hander Carlos Rodón underwent surgery this week and could potentially miss Opening Day for the 2026 MLB season.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed the news just hours ago, stating that an MRI conducted after the team’s elimination last week revealed “no surgery is going to be needed” for Judge, who struggled with a flexor tendon injury in his elbow. Boone emphasized that Judge is expected to engage in a rehabilitation program focused on strengthening his arm.
“He’ll take some time off and continue to do strengthening things and rehab and stuff,” Boone explained. The 33-year-old Judge had an impressive season, leading the majors with a .331 batting average, a 1.144 OPS, and hitting 53 home runs alongside 114 RBIs.
In stark contrast, Rodón’s situation is less optimistic. He underwent a procedure performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Wednesday to remove loose bodies from his left elbow and address a bone spur. Boone reported that Rodón will face an eight-week throwing hiatus, which could delay his start to the season by several weeks.
Rodón, who turns 33 in December, completed the 2023 season with an impressive 18-9 record and a 3.09 ERA. The Yankees are now bracing for the possibility of entering the season without one of their key pitchers.
Adding to the Yankees’ roster news, Boone also confirmed that slugger Giancarlo Stanton will not require surgery on his elbows, relieving some concerns about his health as the team prepares for 2026.
In personnel changes, Boone announced that key coaching staff members, including bullpen coach Mike Harkey and first base/infield coach Travis Chapman, will not return next season, alongside assistant hitting coach Pat Roessler.
As the Yankees look ahead, all eyes will be on Judge’s recovery and Rodón’s rehabilitation. The team’s fans are eager for updates, as the health of these star players will significantly impact their championship aspirations.
Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops.
