Durango’s Fall Cleanup Kicks Off September 29—Prepare Now!
UPDATE: The city of Durango is gearing up for its annual fall cleanup, starting on September 29. This is your chance to clear out leaves and tree limbs cluttering your yard, but urgency is key—residents must act quickly to ensure their organic waste is collected.
City workers will be picking up organic materials on a strict schedule throughout late September and October. Residents are advised to place their cleanup materials curbside by the day before their designated pickup date. Remember, crews will not return to collect from areas once they have completed their route.
IMPORTANT: Only natural debris such as leaves and tree limbs will be accepted for pickup. Non-organic trash and other items will not be collected during this event.
For those looking to dispose of tree trimming branches, they must be less than 8 feet long and 8 inches in diameter to qualify. The city also collaborates with Table to Farm Compost for on-demand leaf pickup, which runs from September 30 to December 6. This service will help compost the collected leaves, making it a valuable resource for residents looking to be eco-friendly.
To participate, residents should use 30-gallon compostable paper leaf bags for their leaves; plastic bags will not be accepted. Ensure that the bags are left on the curb without any tape or staples sealing them.
For more detailed information and to sign up for the leaf composting service, visit Table to Farm Compost’s website. The city’s official site also has guidelines for the fall cleanup program, which can be accessed at durangoco.gov/346/Spring-and-Fall-Cleanup.
As summer fades, this cleanup opportunity allows Durango residents to contribute to a cleaner community. Don’t wait—prepare your yard and schedule your pickup today for a clutter-free fall!
