Bruce Branch III Reclassifies to 2026, Eyes NBA Draft

UPDATE: Bruce Branch III, the highly touted No. 2-ranked basketball prospect for the 2027 class, has just announced his decision to reclassify into the 2026 class. This pivotal move allows him to graduate from Prolific Prep in Florida this spring and compete in college basketball as early as next fall.

In an exclusive interview with ESPN, Branch expressed his confidence, stating, “I believe in my ability. I am confident that I can do this.” The young athlete, who recently turned 17, highlighted his competitive spirit, recalling his early experiences competing against older players. “I remember when I was in the first grade playing against third graders. I got pushed down and I got back up,” he added.

Branch has yet to take any official visits or engage deeply in the recruitment process, but elite programs including Kentucky, Kansas, Louisville, USC, BYU, Arizona, Houston, and Miami are already vying for his talent. A decision on his future school is expected this spring. “I want to take things one step at a time,” Branch emphasized, adding, “I want to focus on our season and my team. I want to win it all at Chipotle [Nationals].”

With his reclassification, Branch positions himself as a strong contender for the No. 1 pick in the 2027 NBA Draft, especially in a draft class seen as less competitive than the one in 2026. He is also a frontrunner for the top spot in the SC Next 100 rankings, a position previously held by Tyran Stokes.

Branch averaged 15.9 points and 5.2 rebounds during the Adidas 3SSB circuit last spring and summer with the Compton Magic program, showcasing impressive shooting skills with a 39% success rate from beyond the arc. Standing at 6-foot-7 with a remarkable 7-foot-2 wingspan, he possesses the athleticism and talent that could translate well to the NBA. His shooting mechanics are noted for their smoothness and consistency, particularly on the move.

Prolific Prep coach Ryan Bernardi praised Branch’s work ethic, indicating that it will serve him well during this transition. “His work ethic will prepare him for this reclassification,” Bernardi stated. “He is emotionally stable; he does not get too high or too low.”

As the basketball community eagerly watches Branch’s next moves, this reclassification is a significant milestone in his burgeoning career. Fans and analysts alike will be keeping a close eye on his performance at the Chipotle Nationals and beyond, as he works to make his mark on college basketball before potentially heading to the professional ranks.

Stay tuned for more updates on Bruce Branch III as he embarks on this exciting new chapter in his athletic journey.
