Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga has achieved a significant milestone with their latest single “Solo Tú,” which has climbed from No. 4 to No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart for the week dated January 24, 2026. This marks the banda’s first No. 1 of the year and the 20th overall on the chart since its inception in 1994.
“Solo Tú” is a modern rendition of a classic song originally by Spanish artist Camilo Sesto, featured on his 1976 album, Memorias. The track was released on October 31, 2025, under the labels El Recodo, FONO, and UMLE. It becomes the second chart-topper for FONO in 2026, following another reimagined track, “Una Noche Contigo” by La Arrolladora Banda El Limón and Juanes, which has slipped from No. 1 to No. 3 after experiencing a 12% decline in audience impressions.
The rise of “Solo Tú” has been remarkable, achieving the title of Greatest Gainer for the week. The song saw a substantial 39% increase in audience impressions, reaching a total of 7.2 million during the tracking week ending January 15, according to data from Luminate.
This achievement solidifies Banda El Recodo’s position among the most successful acts in the genre. A comparison of artists with the most No. 1 hits on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart reveals the following standings:
– Calibre 50: 27 No. 1s
– Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga: 22 No. 1s
– Intocable: 21 No. 1s
– La Arrolladora Banda El Limón de René Camacho: 21 No. 1s
– Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga: 20 No. 1s
– Los Tigres del Norte: 18 No. 1s
– Christian Nodal: 17 No. 1s
“Solo Tú” is notable not only for its current success but also because it is the second song with this title to reach the top of the chart, following the five-week reign of Calibre 50’s version in 2020, which is not a cover of Sesto’s original.
The track is part of Banda El Recodo’s upcoming album titled Madre de Todas Las Bandas, although a release date for the album has yet to be announced. For ongoing updates regarding chart movements, fans can follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on social media platforms such as X and Instagram.
This latest success underscores Banda El Recodo’s enduring appeal and influence within the regional Mexican music scene, as they continue to resonate with audiences both new and old.
