Microsoft has rolled out a significant update for Windows 11, introducing a suite of new AI-powered features designed to enhance user experience. This update focuses on Copilot+ PCs and is now available for users to explore immediately.
Among the standout features is a new AI agent integrated into Windows Settings. This tool allows users to modify settings by simply describing their needs, eliminating the need to navigate through menus. Users can input commands such as “change my resolution to 1920×1080” or “connect Bluetooth device” directly into the search box, making adjustments more intuitive. The AI agent will provide recommendations and actions to facilitate these changes with a single click. Currently, this feature is available exclusively on Snapdragon X Series-powered Copilot+ PCs, with support for Intel and AMD devices expected soon.
New Tools to Enhance User Experience
The update also introduces the Relight feature in the Photos app, aimed at simplifying photo editing. Users can now add up to three virtual light sources to images, adjusting their intensity, color, and position using sliders or selecting from presets like “Studio Portrait” and “Cinematic Glow.” This functionality is particularly beneficial for those looking to enhance their photography skills effortlessly.
Additionally, Windows 11’s Click to Do feature has received an upgrade, providing more functionality for everyday tasks. Users can now leverage tools such as Reading Coach, which aids in improving reading fluency and pronunciation. The Immersive Reader option allows for personalized reading experiences, adjusting text size, spacing, and background themes. Furthermore, the Copilot in Word can help draft documents, and actions within Microsoft Teams can be initiated based on recognized email addresses.
Another noteworthy enhancement is the Snipping Tool, which now includes a Perfect Screenshot feature and a color picker. The Perfect Screenshot tool automatically crops and resizes screenshots according to the content displayed, while the color picker allows users to retrieve color codes from any screen area, supporting formats such as HEX, RGB, and HSL.
Availability and Future Updates
These new features are currently limited to Copilot+ PCs powered by Snapdragon technology, with additional support for Intel and AMD systems on the horizon. Microsoft plans to expand the capabilities of its Copilot Vision AI, which will eventually allow it to perceive the entire desktop environment.
As users update their Windows 11 systems, they are encouraged to explore these new tools and features, which are designed to streamline tasks and enhance productivity. With this update, Microsoft reaffirms its commitment to integrating AI into everyday computing tasks, setting the stage for future advancements in user interface and experience.
