Prince Harry and his long-time friend, Nacho Figueras, shared a friendly ski weekend in Aspen, Colorado, before competing in the St. Regis World Snow Polo Championship. The two friends took advantage of the snowy slopes, enjoying a high-altitude meal and several hours of skiing together. Their camaraderie was evident as they prepared for the upcoming event, with Harry participating on the Aspen Valley team alongside Grant Ganzi and Nic Roldan.
Figueras, a former professional polo player from Argentina, was part of the St. Regis team and did not compete alongside Harry. Despite this, the pair were spotted enjoying their time on the slopes, where Harry appeared in good spirits, accompanied by several male friends. According to Hello, which first reported on their outing, “Harry seemed happy and was also joined by a number of male friends on the slopes.”
Friendship Rooted in Polo and Charity
The friendship between Harry and Figueras dates back to 2007, when they met during a charity tournament supporting Sentebale, an organization founded by the prince to help children in Lesotho. Their shared passion for polo has kept their bond strong over the years. Figueras attended Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle, and he also featured in the docuseries titled Polo, produced by Harry and Meghan for Netflix.
While Harry enjoyed the ski weekend, Meghan remained in Montecito, California, with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Although she was not present to support her husband at the polo championship, Meghan expressed her excitement for the event on social media, posting a picture of Harry on horseback to her Instagram account.
Recent Family Challenges and Public Appearances
This ski trip marked Harry’s first public appearance in weeks. Earlier in December, Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, underwent a leg amputation in the Philippines. A spokesperson confirmed that Meghan managed to deliver a letter to his bedside, addressing challenges posed by the British media regarding her ability to communicate privately with her father.
The couple recently shared their annual holiday card, featuring a family photograph of Archie and Lilibet. As Harry relished his time in Aspen, he embraced the opportunity to unwind and reconnect with friends. His love for skiing has been a consistent aspect of his life; as a child, he often vacationed in snowy locations like Switzerland, and he continues to indulge in this passion.
In 2024, Harry attempted sit-skiing while visiting a training camp ahead of the 2025 Invictus Games in Whistler and Vancouver. Earlier that year, he reportedly took his children to Powder Mountain Ski Resort in Utah for a family getaway.
As the St. Regis World Snow Polo Championship unfolded, the competitive spirit was palpable, but the friendly atmosphere shared between Harry and Figueras served as a reminder of their enduring friendship and shared interests beyond the sport.
