High school football teams across California have secured their spots in the state championship games following a series of intense regional matchups. The finals are set to showcase some of the best talent in the state, with competitions spanning multiple divisions.
Key Matchups for the Championships
In the Open Division, the undefeated De La Salle (12-0) will face Santa Margarita (10-3) at Saddleback College on Saturday, December 13, at 20:00. This highly anticipated matchup promises to be a thrilling encounter as both teams aim for state glory.
The Division 1-AA championship features Folsom (13-1), who narrowly defeated Archbishop Riordan 42-38, set to clash with Cathedral Catholic (11-2), victorious over Los Alamitos 42-21. The date and venue for their championship game are yet to be determined.
In Division 1-A, Central East (13-1) will compete against either Pacifica-Oxnard (14-0) or Granite Hills (10-3) after both teams face off this Saturday at 19:00.
Results from Regional Contests
Division 2-AA saw St. Mary’s-Stockton (12-2) emerge victorious against Serra with a score of 31-24, while Bakersfield Christian (13-0) won against La Habra 24-21. These teams will meet in the state championship, with the final date to be announced.
In Division 2-A, Woodcreek-Roseville (12-1) is set to play against Sonora (13-0) this Saturday at 18:00, while Rio Hondo Prep (15-0) claimed victory over Santa Fe Christian 26-21, positioning them for a potential title showdown.
Further down the divisions, notable performances included St. Ignatius (8-6), which edged out Monte Vista 17-13 in Division 3-AA, and McClymonds (11-2) defeating Roseville 42-34 in Division 3-A. Both teams will now compete for their respective championships.
The excitement continues in Division 4-AA, where Sutter (13-1) will face Barstow (11-3) after their recent victories. In Division 4-A, El Cerrito (12-2) or Menlo-Atherton (7-6) will meet Beckman (12-3) for the title, following their impressive regional performances.
