Oral Roberts University Engages Students in Criminal Justice Day

Students and faculty at Oral Roberts University participated in a successful Criminal Justice Day on March 15, 2024, which featured demonstrations from the Tulsa Police Department. The event aimed to provide insights into law enforcement operations and connect students interested in public safety with professionals in the field.

During the event, representatives from various specialized units of the Tulsa Police Department showcased their equipment and discussed the intricacies of police work. The departments in attendance included the Training Division, Bomb Squad, Special Operations Team (SOT), Motorcycle Unit, Aviation Unit, and SPYDR (Detective Division).

Students were given the opportunity to participate in a mini obstacle course, designed to simulate some of the physical challenges faced by police officers. This interactive experience allowed attendees to gain a better understanding of the demands of a law enforcement career. In addition, the Broken Arrow Police Department contributed to the event with their mounted unit, further enriching the educational experience.

Officers engaged in meaningful conversations with students regarding the various services provided by the police, community protection initiatives, and the pathway to becoming a Tulsa Police Officer. The department emphasized the importance of community involvement in law enforcement and encouraged those interested in pursuing a career in this field to visit www.jointpd.com for detailed information on application requirements and processes.

Criminal Justice Day served not only as an educational platform but also as a vital connection point for students considering careers in law enforcement. The event highlighted the commitment of local police departments to foster relationships with the community and inspire future generations of public safety professionals.
