The St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce officially launched its 19th annual “Shop St. Joseph” Holiday Program on November 12, 2023. This initiative aims to promote local shopping during the holiday season, encouraging residents of St. Joseph, Missouri, to support nearby businesses.
Program Details and Incentives
The program will run until December 15, 2023, during which shoppers can collect tickets for a chance to win exciting prizes. One fortunate participant will be awarded a grand prize of $10,000, while others who shop at small businesses can enter to win $2,500. According to the Chamber, a small business is defined as a locally-owned establishment with ten or fewer employees.
For every $10 spent at participating businesses, shoppers will receive additional tickets. Each customer is entitled to one free ticket just for shopping, providing multiple opportunities for winning. Natalie Hawn, president and CEO of the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce, expressed enthusiasm for the event. “We’re very excited to kick off Shop St. Joseph; it’s one of the best times of the year,” she stated.
The Chamber has also introduced the Shop Small Business Bonus, designed to incentivize residents to shop local. Hawn emphasized the dual benefits of the program, saying, “Besides the obvious benefit of encouraging spending at small businesses, the Shop Small Business Bonus makes another shopper a big winner.”
Participating Merchants and Additional Prizes
A list of participating merchants is available on the Chamber’s website, and businesses can still register to be part of this community-focused initiative. Additionally, a variety of second-chance prizes will be offered by participating merchants, increasing the excitement for shoppers.
