Scrub Daddy Offers $2 Credit for Old Sponges at New Smile Shop

Customers of Scrub Daddy can now exchange their old sponges for in-store credit, as the brand recently launched a trade-in program at its new retail outlet, the Smile Shop, located in Pennsauken, New Jersey. Under the Foam2Fuel Rewards Program, customers receive $2 for each used sponge returned, promoting sustainability while providing a financial incentive for loyal fans.

The Smile Shop, which opened following Scrub Daddy’s move to a new 185,000-square-foot campus, serves as both a retail space and a recycling center. According to the company’s website, the relocation was announced on July 22, 2024, coinciding with significant growth as the team expanded from 20 to over 100 employees. The new headquarters also features an on-air studio, enhancing the brand’s community engagement.

Social media platforms, particularly TikTok, have played a pivotal role in raising awareness about the trade-in program. Influencers such as @soundsbykola have shared their experiences, attracting nearly 60,000 views with posts showcasing their visits to the Smile Shop. In a video, she explained, “I went to the Scrub Daddy Smile Shop in NJ, bring in your used Scrub Daddies and get $2 for each one,” engaging a wide audience in the process.

The initiative has sparked excitement among customers who are discovering the value of their discarded sponges. Responses on social media reflect a mix of surprise and enthusiasm. One TikTok user remarked, “All the ones I’ve thrown away,” while another shared their intention to visit the shop, expressing disbelief that they had driven past it for years without knowing it existed.

Reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with many customers describing the program as “basically a free sponge.” A user known as @phillymomlife noted, “We took a drive over to Jersey to visit the @Scrub Daddy Smile Shop 😊. It was only $2 but hey, that’s basically a free sponge 😆.” This sentiment illustrates how small incentives can boost customer loyalty and engagement.

The Smile Shop not only facilitates sponge recycling but also fosters a sense of community. Customers have shared heartwarming encounters, including one where the CEO personally welcomed them after hours, highlighting the brand’s commitment to customer satisfaction.

As Scrub Daddy continues to innovate and expand its offerings, the combination of sustainability and consumer rewards appears poised to strengthen its market presence. By encouraging customers to trade in their old sponges, the brand not only promotes eco-friendly practices but also enhances customer loyalty through tangible rewards.
