Robert H. Robacker, a cherished husband, father, and community leader, passed away on April 10, 2025, at the age of 86 in Port Orange, Florida. Born on May 12, 1938, in Erie, Pennsylvania, he dedicated much of his life to serving both his country and his local community.
Robacker graduated from Strong Vincent High School before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He served three years of active duty, followed by an additional five years in the reserves. His commitment to his country was a source of great pride for him, and he carried the values of service and integrity throughout his life.
After his military service, Robacker embarked on a career in the welding supply and safety industry. His professional journey included significant roles at companies such as Air Reduction, BOC, and Fayette Welding Supply, ultimately becoming the Executive Vice President at S.J. Smith in Davenport, Iowa. It was during this time that he met his life partner, Anita. The couple married on January 15, 1994, and shared a deep bond enriched by their mutual love for boating and biking.
Robacker was known for his generous spirit and his ability to connect with others. He was a mentor to many and was widely respected for his honesty and integrity. His family and friends fondly recall his love for pickleball and hunting, particularly at his camp in Pennsylvania, known as Knock Em Stiff.
Throughout his life, Robacker remained active in various organizations, showcasing his commitment to community engagement. He was a 60-year member of the American Welding Society (AWS) and a Master Mason. Furthermore, he served as Vice President of the Oceans Golf Club and held board positions with the Midwest Welding Conference and the Lindsay Yacht Club in Davenport, Iowa. His leadership extended to being President of the BIG Group and involvement in several other community initiatives.
Robacker is survived by his beloved wife, Anita, and their children: Keith Robacker (Barbara), Terri Kleinfelder (Mark), Dan Robacker (Shelly), Correen Montgomery, and Scott Sporer (Alissa), as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Shirlee, and brother Dale.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for September 25, 2025, at Lindsay Park Yacht Club, located at 2100 E. River Drive, Davenport, Iowa, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Tunnels to Towers or a charity of choice, reflecting Robacker’s commitment to helping others.
Robacker’s legacy as a devoted family man, a dedicated professional, and a community stalwart will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. His impact on the lives of others is a testament to a life well-lived.
