Remembering Milton “Huck” Thomas Walker: Community Pillar Dies at 94

Milton “Huck” Thomas Walker, a respected member of the Chesapeake community, passed away on September 14, 2025, at the age of 94. Born in Norfolk, Virginia, he was the son of the late William Thomas and Bessie J. Walker. His legacy is marked by a life dedicated to service, family, and community involvement.

Walker was predeceased by his siblings, including his sister, Deborah Walker Johnson, and he is also mourned by his daughter and great-grandson, Orlando J. Reed. His commitment to his country was evident during his service in the Air Force during the Korean War, a period he often reflected on with pride.

After his military service, Walker worked diligently as a branch manager for Life of Virginia for over 30 years. His professional career was characterized by dedication and leadership, earning him respect in the insurance industry.

Community Engagement and Personal Passions

Milton Walker’s impact extended beyond his professional life. He enjoyed volunteering at the Woodland Heights Baptist Church in Chesapeake, where he actively contributed to various community initiatives. His faith played an important role throughout his life, guiding his interactions with others and strengthening community ties.

An avid golfer, Walker was also a long-time member of the Greenbrier Country Club. His passion for golf was a source of joy, allowing him to connect with friends and family alike.

In his later years, Walker was surrounded by his family, who cherished the time spent together. He is survived by his granddaughter, Stacy Miller; grandson-in-law, Jacob Ross; grandson, John R. Miller III; and his great-grandchildren, Lydia and Eli Ross. These family members remember him not only for his accomplishments but also for the warmth and love he brought into their lives.

A Celebration of Life Service

A service to honor Milton Walker’s life will take place at Graham Funeral Home, located at 1112 Kempsville Rd., Chesapeake, on October 10, 2025, at 14:00. The ceremony will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Kenneth Barnes. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Walker’s rich life and the many contributions he made to those around him.
