A prominent custom apparel shop in Central Texas, Austin Screen Printing and Embroidery, is marking its 50th anniversary with the opening of a modern 30,000-square-foot production facility. On December 10, 2023, the company will host an open house from 10 AM to 2 PM at its new location on 8613 Cross Park Drive, inviting the public to explore its expanded offerings.
Attendees can enjoy guided tours of the new facility, sample treats from Goodies Cookies, and sip on local craft beers from Pinthouse. The event will feature giveaways, including tumblers and stadium cups, as well as opportunities for guests to print their own T-shirts. The open house will provide a rare behind-the-scenes look at the advanced machinery that has helped Austin residents express their identities through custom apparel.
Founded in 1975, Austin Screen Printing and Embroidery began as a small shop with a single manual press. Over the decades, it has evolved into a key player in the local apparel industry, serving clients ranging from schools and nonprofits to tech companies and major festivals. Its impressive client roster includes Austin City Limits, PBS, Wheatsville, and numerous local school districts.
The decision to relocate stems from the need for increased efficiency and capacity. According to Brian Feldman, president of Austin Screen Printing, the previous operation was spread across six different buildings, requiring up to 18 hours of operation each day to meet demand. The new facility consolidates operations into a single location, allowing the team to streamline processes and improve workflow.
“In a city as dynamic and fast-paced as Austin, where trends shift and the city’s growth seems to transform areas overnight, standing the test of time for half a century means everything to us,” Feldman stated. He emphasized that the company’s longevity is a testament to its ability to adapt while maintaining core values of quality and personalized customer service established by the founders.
Austin Screen Printing has navigated various economic cycles, from booms to busts, largely thanks to its loyal customer base and dedicated employees. Feldman credits the team for creating a familial atmosphere, which has been crucial to the company’s success.
The state-of-the-art facility allows Austin Screen Printing to adopt new technologies and innovative processes. “This new space has provided the necessary resources to enhance our quality, capacity, and efficiency,” Feldman added. He expressed optimism about continuing to serve Central Texas for the next 50 years, reinforcing the company’s commitment to excellence in custom apparel production.
As the community gathers to celebrate this milestone, the open house promises to be a lively event, showcasing not only the company’s history but also its future in the rapidly evolving landscape of custom printing.
