Multiple Injuries Reported in Shooting Incident at Kentucky Church

A shooting incident at the Richmond Road Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky, on October 1, 2023, left multiple individuals injured after a suspect allegedly shot a state trooper. The suspect is also deceased. The event unfolded around 11:35 a.m. local time, according to the Kentucky State Police.

Initial reports indicate that the unidentified suspect fired upon a trooper before fleeing the scene. The pursuit ended at the church, where multiple injuries were reported. Specifics regarding the number and nature of injuries have not been disclosed by law enforcement officials.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Lexington Police Department and state troopers, responded promptly to secure the suspect, who was found dead at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the suspect’s death remain unclear.

The injured state trooper is currently receiving medical attention, as confirmed by police officials. In response to the events, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear acknowledged the severity of the situation, stating, “Please pray for everyone affected by these senseless acts of violence, and let’s give thanks for the swift response by the Lexington Police Department and Kentucky State Police.”
