Gloria Foster Walker, a beloved member of the Chesapeake community, passed away on September 18, 2025, at the age of 92. Known for her dedication to family, her career in banking, and her unwavering commitment to her church, Walker’s life touched many lives.
A Life of Service and Family
Born in Norfolk, Virginia, Gloria was the daughter of the late Herbert Foster and Pearl Howlett Atkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton T. “Huck” Walker, and her daughter, Deborah Walker Johnson. Walker also mourned the loss of her great-grandson, Orlando J. Reed, as well as her brothers, Herbert Foster Jr. and Albert Foster, and her sister, Shirley Foster Vanhorn.
For over 30 years, Gloria worked as a bank manager and teller, contributing significantly to her field before retiring. Her commitment to her community extended beyond her professional life; she was an active volunteer at the Woodland Heights Baptist Church in Chesapeake, where she spent countless hours helping others.
Legacy and Remembrance
Gloria Foster Walker is survived by her granddaughter, Stacy Miller, her grandson-in-law, Jacob Ross, and her grandson, John R. Miller, III. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Lydia and Eli Ross, along with several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
A service to celebrate her life will take place at Graham Funeral Home, located at 1112 Kempsville Rd, Chesapeake, on October 10, 2025, at 14:00, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Barnes officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend to honor her legacy and share their memories.
