New Jersey Companies Shine in Newsweek’s Top 100 Responsible Firms

New Jersey has garnered attention for its strong showing in the latest rankings of America’s Most Responsible Companies. In 2025, a total of five companies from the state made it into the coveted Top 100 list, according to a collaborative study by Newsweek and Statista. This recognition highlights the ongoing commitment of New Jersey businesses to ethical practices, sustainability, and social responsibility.

The state’s business landscape has been particularly vibrant in recent years, despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and fluctuating inflation rates. Notably, tourism in South Jersey experienced record revenue during the summer of 2024, signaling a robust recovery in the hospitality sector. Moreover, recent legislative adjustments in Trenton have provided positive news for New Jersey’s restaurant owners, easing some regulatory burdens. Additionally, many hourly wage workers in the state saw salary increases in 2025, contributing to a more favorable economic outlook.

Understanding the Rankings

Each year, Newsweek and Statista conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the largest publicly traded companies in the United States, focusing on their social and environmental responsibilities. This year, the analysis involved over 26,000 customer surveys and assessed 30 key performance indicators across three major categories: Corporate Governance, Environmental Concerns, and Social Awareness.

From an initial pool of 2,000 companies, 600 were selected based on their positive impacts, achieving a minimum overall score of 67. The Top 100 companies boasted an impressive overall score of 90 or higher. This rigorous methodology underscores the importance of responsible business practices in today’s market.

In total, 15 New Jersey-based companies made it into the Top 500 of Newsweek’s Most Responsible Companies in America. Among these, five firms distinguished themselves as leaders in responsible corporate behavior, securing positions within the Top 100. This achievement not only reflects their commitment to ethical practices but also enhances New Jersey’s reputation as a hub for responsible business.

Spotlight on New Jersey’s Top Firms

The recognition of these companies is a testament to their efforts in maintaining high standards of governance, environmental stewardship, and community engagement. These firms have not only adapted to the changing economic landscape but have also set benchmarks for others to follow.

This year’s rankings serve as a reminder of the potential for businesses to thrive while prioritizing social responsibility. As New Jersey continues to evolve economically, the success of these companies may inspire further initiatives aimed at fostering a responsible business environment across the state.

In summary, New Jersey’s representation in Newsweek’s Top 100 Most Responsible Companies showcases the resilience and commitment of its businesses to creating a positive impact. This recognition is particularly significant as the state navigates the complexities of a post-pandemic economy, positioning itself as a leader in corporate responsibility and ethical practices.
