Gerard Butler and Hayley Atwell are set to star in the upcoming action film Empire City, which will center around a dramatic hostage crisis. Plot Details and Creative Team
The film’s official synopsis reveals that the story unfolds inside New York’s iconic Clybourn Building, where Butler plays firefighter Rhett. Faced with a hostage situation, Rhett, alongside his squad and NYPD wife Dani, portrayed by Atwell, must navigate the perilous environment to rescue the captives.
Directed by Michael Matthews, known for his work on Love & Monsters, the screenplay is co-written by Brian Tucker and S. Craig Zahler. The production team includes Butler and Alan Siegel from G-BASE, as well as Marc Butan from MadRiver Pictures and Paul Currie. Executive producers are Quirin Berg and Alexander Janssen from Leonine Studios.
