Woman Arrested After Allegedly Pointing Rifle at Teens in Newark

A confrontation in a hotel parking lot in Newark led to the arrest of a Connecticut woman on December 5, 2023. The incident unfolded around 20:00 local time when a woman allegedly pointed a rifle at three juveniles who were playing in the parking lot.

According to the Delaware State Police, the three teens were engaged in a game of football when a woman inside a parked paratransit van displayed what appeared to be a firearm. The juveniles quickly fled the scene, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Police responded swiftly to the Hilton hotel located at 100 Continental Drive after receiving reports of the armed confrontation. Authorities were able to locate the van in a nearby parking area. The woman, identified as 50-year-old Rachel Dinorscia, was taken into custody without resistance.

During a subsequent search of the van, police discovered a long rifle believed to have been brandished during the incident. Additionally, officers found a second rifle and two handguns. Dinorscia was then transported to Troop 6 for processing.

Charges Filed Against Dinorscia

Dinorscia faces several serious charges, including possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, three counts of aggravated menacing, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. Following her arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 11, she was committed to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a secured bond set at $23,500.

As with all suspects, Dinorscia is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The swift response from law enforcement ensured the safety of the community, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
