UPDATE: An urgent search is underway for 10-year-old Gabrielle Terrelonge, who has been missing since June 30. Her mother, Passha Davis, is currently in jail as police investigate her disappearance following her arrest on October 17 in Margate, Florida.
Gabrielle’s father, Gordon Terrelonge, has not seen or heard from his daughter for more than six months. He lost contact with Gabrielle and Davis after a dispute in Kissimmee, Florida, but believed they would eventually reunite. It wasn’t until late October that Terrelonge discovered Davis had been arrested and reached out to police, only to learn that Gabrielle was missing.
“My life has been hell,” Terrelonge stated. “This is the longest I’ve gone without seeing her.” Authorities confirmed that Gabrielle was last seen on a Greyhound bus with her mother, traveling from Broward County to Orlando. A witness at the Florida Mall corroborated this information, leading investigators to ramp up their search efforts.
Davis, who has a history of instability, was arrested for shoplifting before being re-arrested for child neglect. She claimed she does not know Gabrielle’s whereabouts and stated that her daughter “should be with her father.” However, police have stated that Terrelonge last saw Gabrielle in April, raising concerns about her safety.
Gabrielle’s disappearance has deeply affected her family. Her paternal grandmother, Jonett Vassel, expressed her anguish, stating, “I cannot sleep, I cannot eat, I’m fasting, I’m praying.” She has been actively searching for Gabrielle, distributing flyers across Orlando.
The investigation has drawn the attention of the Florida police and the FBI, who are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to Gabrielle’s safe return. Margate police Major Al Banatte emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “We are working tirelessly to locate Gabrielle and ensure her safety.”
Davis’s living situation has been described as unstable, with reports of homelessness and struggles with mental illness and substance abuse. Court documents reveal she failed to provide adequate care for Gabrielle, leading to the serious charges against her. Following Davis’s latest arrest, her bond has been set at $100,000, and she is currently undergoing a competency evaluation.
Gabrielle was last enrolled in school in Port St. Lucie and has faced significant disruptions in her living conditions, previously staying with family, in hotels, and even in a car. Terrelonge has expressed his desperate plea for assistance, urging anyone with information to come forward.
“If anyone knows anything, please come forward and let us know,” he said. “You may save my child’s life.”
The search for Gabrielle Terrelonge is ongoing, and the community is rallying together to support her family during this harrowing time. Stay tuned for updates as this developing story unfolds.
