BREAKING: More than 90,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees are under urgent recall due to a critical software error that could cause a dangerous “loss of drive power.” The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) confirmed this alarming development just hours ago, marking a significant safety concern for owners of these vehicles.

The recall affects 2022 to 2026 plug-in hybrid electric models of the popular SUV, totaling 91,787 vehicles. The NHTSA reported that a defect in the Jeep’s hybrid control processor may lead to an unexpected loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of crashes without prior warning.

Chrysler, the manufacturer, has stated that it is currently unaware of any injuries or accidents linked to this defect as of August 18. However, the urgency of this recall cannot be overstated, as the potential for serious incidents looms large.

As the situation develops, Chrysler is in the process of creating a remedy. Owners of affected vehicles will begin receiving notification letters starting on October 23, 2023. For those looking for immediate information, the NHTSA has made it possible to check if their vehicle is impacted by searching the VIN number on its website, starting September 11.

Jeep owners can also reach out directly to Chrysler’s customer service at 1-800-853-1403 for assistance. This recall follows a previous one last year, where over 330,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees were recalled due to a steering wheel issue that posed a risk of losing control.

Drivers, stay informed and take this matter seriously. With the potential for severe consequences, it is essential to act swiftly and ensure your vehicle’s safety. This is a developing story; stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
