BREAKING: The Kennedy Center is under fire as multiple artists report significant delays in receiving their performance payments. This urgent situation comes amid ongoing scrutiny over the Center’s leadership and financial practices.

Artists are voicing their frustrations, with representatives for three performers confirming they have yet to receive payment for shows that occurred months ago. Veteran booking agent Wayne Forte, who manages acts like Ashes & Arrows and Brazilian guitarist Lari Basilio, stated that both acts performed at the Millennium Stage in September and are still waiting for their fees. “You see these reports about the Center in the news,” Forte expressed, adding that he is puzzled by the lack of communication since the staff member who handled their bookings was let go in October.

Moreover, a manager for a third artist, who requested anonymity due to fears of retaliation, revealed that their client is owed $40,000 in VIP-package revenue from a performance in July. The manager claims that staff members responsible for these transactions have also departed, leaving them without answers. “No one is returning calls,” they lamented, until inquiries began to surface.

In response to these claims, a spokesman for the Kennedy Center firmly denied any payment issues, asserting that all artists have been compensated. They emphasized that the Center has upgraded its payment systems within the last few months to modernize operations. However, artist representatives maintain that while they have recently received communication from the Center, no payments have yet been processed.

UPDATE: Just minutes after this article was drafted, one artist representative reported that the Kennedy Center has processed a payment, signaling a possible resolution to this troubling situation.

As the Kennedy Center grapples with these allegations, the implications for its reputation and future operations remain uncertain. The ongoing investigation into leadership practices adds further pressure amid declining ticket sales and internal turmoil.

This developing story highlights the urgent need for transparency and accountability within the Kennedy Center, as artists continue to seek fair compensation for their work. The situation is evolving rapidly, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
