URGENT UPDATE: A surge of violent incidents and thefts has been reported in Salisbury, with multiple assaults and property crimes occurring in just a few days. The Salisbury Police Department is actively investigating these alarming developments, which include assaults with weapons and significant property loss.
On January 23, at 10:55 a.m., an assault with a dangerous weapon shook the 600 block of Mocksville Avenue. Just hours later, at 5:45 p.m., another assault was reported in the 500 block of Lash Drive. These incidents raise serious concerns about community safety.
In a particularly concerning event on January 24, at 10:30 a.m., a gun-related assault occurred in the 300 block of Gold Hill Drive. The violence continued with a hit-and-run causing property damage at 4:40 p.m. in the 1300 block of Klumac Road.
Authorities reported an alarming case of extortion in the 200 block of Circle Drive between January 19 and January 22, with a total estimated loss of $3,500. Additionally, a theft in the 200 block of Pearl Street was reported on January 26, with losses totaling $307.
The situation escalated with multiple arrests. On January 23, Jaxon Robert Wayne Frye, aged 38, was charged with felony third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. Ruqayyah Qurisha Gray, 33, and Antonio Jerome Kight, 30, were charged with felony conspiracy on January 24. James Jermaine Bristow, 26, was charged with felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance on January 25.
In a separate report from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, fraud was reported on January 22, 2026, at Statesville Boulevard, with incidents dating back to November 2025. This highlights ongoing issues with property crimes in the area.
