Trump Links Tylenol to Autism Risk in Urgent Announcement Today

UPDATE: In a highly anticipated announcement, President Donald Trump is set to link Tylenol use during pregnancy to increased autism risk, raising urgent concerns among scientists. The announcement is scheduled for 4:00 PM local time (2000 GMT) today and is expected to stir significant debate.

Trump’s remarks come as tensions rise over the administration’s controversial health initiatives, spearheaded by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., known for his anti-vaccine stance. Speaking at a memorial for Charlie Kirk, a right-wing activist, Trump teased this press conference as “one of the most important” he has ever held. “I think we found an answer to autism, how about that?” he stated, igniting immediate reactions from health experts.

The focus on acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol, has drawn widespread criticism. Major medical groups, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, have long identified Tylenol as one of the safest pain relief options during pregnancy. However, concerns remain about its long-term use, especially given the potential risks.

Reports indicate that the announcement may also address a potential autism treatment involving the drug leucovorin, which has shown promise in small trials but requires further study. A recent literature review suggested a possible link between Tylenol exposure and autism, although findings have been contradictory, with other studies indicating no such association.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt urged caution ahead of the announcement, insisting that “everyone in this room needs to tone down the judgment.” As anticipation builds, experts are voicing alarm over the implications of Trump’s claims.

Psychiatric epidemiologist David Mandell from the University of Pennsylvania warned that the risks of taking Tylenol while pregnant may be lower than those posed by untreated infections. He expressed concern over the pressure to deliver quick findings, stating, “There’s an incredible pressure and urgency to come up with something.”

The Coalition of Autism Scientists vehemently criticized the administration’s approach, labeling it “highly irresponsible” to draw connections between environmental exposures and autism without thorough research. They cautioned that such claims could generate confusion and fear among the public.

As the clock ticks down to the announcement, the scientific community is bracing for a potentially polarizing statement that could reshape discussions around autism and maternal health. Stay tuned for live updates as this story develops.
