The popular reality show The Traitors is set to make its theatrical debut in the West End in 2027. According to BBC News, the show’s producer, Studio Lambert, is collaborating with its affiliated company, All3Media, to create a stage adaptation that promises to offer a “bold and surprising theatrical performance.”
This new play will draw inspiration from the original format, where a group of loyal participants attempts to identify the traitors among them. Although the specific venue in London has yet to be announced, the theatrical version follows the success of The Traitors: Live Experience, which launched last year as an immersive experience in the West End.
Renowned writer John Finnemore, known for his work on Good Omens, is penning the script for the production. The play will be directed by Rob Hastie, an Olivier Award winner recognized for his staging of acclaimed productions such as Operation Mincemeat. Hastie also serves as the deputy artistic director at London’s National Theatre.
The announcement of the stage adaptation coincides with a peak period for The Traitors, as Season 4 recently concluded with nearly 10 million viewers. This follows the success of the UK celebrity version, which aired just weeks prior. The show has gained international popularity, including a version produced for the U.S. audience on streaming platform Peacock.
As anticipation builds for this theatrical interpretation, audiences can expect a reimagining that honors the essence of the original series while delivering a fresh and engaging experience.
