UPDATE: A shocking double murder in Arkansas has led to the arrest of a 28-year-old teacher, now charged with the brutal stabbing of a couple in front of their children. The incident occurred on July 26, 2025, at Devil’s Den State Park, where authorities report the attack was seemingly “random.”
Andrew McGann, who faces two counts of capital murder for the killings of Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, was arrested shortly after the attacks. He made his first court appearance today, where a judge ordered him held without bond, assigning him a public defender and scheduling an arraignment for August 25.
Prior to this tragic incident, McGann had a troubled professional history, bouncing between various teaching positions across three states—Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Reports indicate he had been placed on administrative leave in spring 2023 while working at an elementary school in Flower Mound, Texas, due to concerns over classroom management and student favoritism.
One parent described McGann as “reserved” and “not super friendly,” recalling a particularly awkward interaction. “He wouldn’t look at me really, wouldn’t talk to me,” Kyle Swanson stated.
McGann graduated from Oklahoma State University-Tulsa in May 2022 with a degree in elementary education and held active teaching licenses in all three states. Despite his erratic employment history, he passed all required background checks and was set to begin a new position at Springdale Public Schools in northwest Arkansas on August 11.
The murder of the Brinks has left a community in mourning. Amy Labree, a friend of Cristen Brink, expressed her disbelief, stating, “It just doesn’t seem real. Just seems there should be something I could do to take all this terrible tragedy back.”
As police continue their investigation, the community is left grappling with the senseless violence. The Arkansas State Police are urging anyone with further information to come forward as they seek justice for the victims and their grieving family.
This case is developing, and more updates are expected as authorities continue to piece together the events surrounding this horrific attack. Stay tuned for the latest information as it becomes available.
