BREAKING: Top-35 recruit Tarris Bouie has officially committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide, marking a significant boost for the team’s recruiting efforts. Bouie’s announcement came just two days after fellow top-50 prospect Chris Washington Jr. chose Alabama, solidifying a strong start for the Crimson Tide’s 2026 class.
Both players visited Tuscaloosa last weekend and wasted no time in making their commitments to head coach Nate Oats. Bouie expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Coach Oats recruited me hard, and I really like their style of play.” He emphasized the impact of Oats’ presence at his games over the summer, noting, “They play fast, and in the open court they shoot 3s and attack the basket.”
Bouie, ranked No. 33 in the ESPN 100, averaged 15.5 points and 6.0 rebounds during the Nike EYBL circuit this past spring and summer. He demonstrated his shooting ability by hitting five of twelve 3-point attempts at the prestigious Nike Peach Jam in July. His natural scoring instincts and versatility make him a formidable asset on the court.
The 6-foot-7 wing’s connection with Oats and assistant coach Preston Murphy played a crucial role in his decision. Bouie praised Oats, stating, “I have a very good relationship with Coach Oats, and we talk often.” Murphy, whom Oats has referred to as the “best recruiter in the country,” also contributed to Bouie’s choice.
In a competitive recruitment process, Bouie had narrowed his options to Alabama, Cincinnati, Georgetown, Marquette, Mississippi State, NC State, Ole Miss, and Texas before opting for Alabama. His decision to commit follows Washington’s announcement, who is recognized as the top prospect from Tennessee in the 2026 class, ranked No. 41 overall by ESPN.
Washington has an impressive profile, having averaged 12.3 points and 7.4 rebounds this past spring and summer, showcasing his skills on both ends of the court. His swift commitment without taking additional visits highlights Alabama’s strong recruiting momentum under Oats, who has produced ranked classes for five consecutive years.
Looking ahead, Alabama is poised to host more top recruits this weekend, including Caleb Holt, Dylan Mingo, and Jaxon Richardson, all top-15 prospects. The Crimson Tide currently stands out as one of only two programs nationwide with multiple top-50 commitments in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
With Bouie and Washington leading the charge, Alabama’s future looks bright as they aim to build on their recent successes on the court. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely as more recruits are expected to make their decisions in the coming weeks.
