The Springfield Public School concert choir, directed by Bailey Cords, has been invited to perform at the annual convention of the Minnesota Music Education Association on February 13, 2024, at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The performance will be themed “Rise Together in Song – Celebrating Music Education in a Rural Community.” This recognition marks a significant achievement for the choir, which previously received this honor in 1993.
Academic Achievements Across Institutions
Several students from the region have also been recognized for their academic excellence at various institutions. Among the fall graduates at Iowa State University in Ames, Brenden Paul Humbard from New Ulm earned a bachelor of science degree in animal science, showcasing the ongoing commitment to education in the community.
At Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Catherine Cummings from Mankato was named to the fall dean’s list. This honor is awarded to students who achieve a minimum semester grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, reflecting strong academic performance.
Meanwhile, Saige Isaacson from New Ulm achieved a spot on the president’s list of high distinction for the fall term at Western Technical College in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Inclusion on this list requires a GPA of 3.5 or higher while carrying six or more credits in an associate’s degree or technical diploma program.
Recognition at the University of Hartford
At the University of Hartford in Connecticut, Emily Frutos Krueger from Mankato was named to both the dean’s list and the president’s list. The dean’s list recognizes students achieving a GPA of at least 3.0 with no grade below a C, while the president’s list honors those maintaining a GPA of 3.75 or higher.
These recognitions highlight the dedication and talent present within the community, both in the arts and academics.
