URGENT UPDATE: The Spring Place Ruritan Club is set to spearhead a crucial community cleanup day at the historic Lucy Hill/Mission Spring tomorrow, August 2, 2023. Volunteers are called to action to gather at the spring by 9 a.m. to join forces in revitalizing this key site in Spring Place, Georgia.
This initiative comes just in time for the upcoming Vann House Day and the Spring Place Festival later this month, making it imperative for residents to contribute to improving their town’s appearance. Participants will split into teams to tackle litter pickup along Ellijay Street and Elm Street, alongside cleaning the spring located just off Ellijay Street in the heart of the township.
Each volunteer is encouraged to bring essential tools such as grabbers, rakes, and waders to assist in various tasks including trimming, cleaning, and litter removal. This collective effort not only enhances the aesthetics of Spring Place but also honors its rich history.
Spring Place is notable for being the site of the first Christian mission to the Cherokees and a significant location during the Trail of Tears. It’s also recognized as the first county seat for Murray County and proudly holds the status of a Georgia Historic Township listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
For anyone interested in participating, further details can be obtained by contacting Tim Howard at (706) 280-5535. Don’t miss this opportunity to make a difference in your community—join your neighbors in this vital cleanup effort tomorrow!
