South Dakota State Dominates Mercyhurst 51-7 with Mason’s 3 TDs

UPDATE: South Dakota State University has just delivered a commanding performance, crushing Mercyhurst 51-7 in Brookings, South Dakota, earlier today. The Jackrabbits move to an impressive 4-0 record this season, further solidifying their position as the second-ranked team in the FCS coaches’ poll.

Chase Mason was the star of the game, throwing three touchdown passes and completing 21-of-29 passes for a staggering 321 yards. His precision helped the Jackrabbits jump out to an early lead, scoring 17 points in the first quarter alone. Mason’s targets included Alex Bullock and Lofton O’Groske, both of whom caught touchdown passes of 28 and 19 yards, respectively.

James Basinger also made a significant impact, rushing for two touchdowns and accumulating 53 yards on 15 carries. His contributions helped stretch the lead further, with a notable 1-yard TD run late in the game, capping off a dominant victory.

The Jackrabbits’ home winning streak has now reached 32 games, showcasing their prowess at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. Grahm Goering led the receiving corps with seven receptions for 101 yards, adding to the offensive onslaught.

On the other side, Mercyhurst struggled to find rhythm, with Adam Urena completing 12-of-18 passes for 103 yards, along with one touchdown pass and two interceptions. This loss drops Mercyhurst to 1-4 for the season, highlighting the challenges they face going forward.
