URGENT UPDATE: A teacher from Salisbury High School has been arrested on serious charges of possessing child pornography. The shocking arrest of 35-year-old Juan Pablo Valencia-Chavez occurred on January 6, 2026, following a lengthy investigation initiated by the Salisbury Police Department.
The investigation was launched on October 30, 2025, after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted authorities about an individual in Salisbury who allegedly uploaded disturbing content. Detectives, with the assistance of the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation and the Landis Police Department, swiftly identified Valencia-Chavez as the suspect.
During a search of his home in Landis, law enforcement officials seized multiple digital items. A forensic examination uncovered images and videos that were “consistent with child pornography.” This evidence led to his immediate arrest.
Valencia-Chavez now faces one count of felony third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond.
