“Now You See Me 3 Opens to Disappointing $60 Million Box Office”

UPDATE: The latest installment in the “Now You See Me” franchise, titled Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, has debuted with disappointing box office numbers, grossing only $60 million domestically and just over $200 million globally. This alarming figure positions it as the lowest-grossing film in the series, raising questions about its future and the franchise’s viability.

Released on November 12, 2025, the film’s performance starkly contrasts with its predecessors. Both Now You See Me and Now You See Me 2 surpassed $300 million in global earnings, with the first film alone crossing the coveted $100 million mark in the U.S. market. The third film’s failure to capture audience interest is a significant blow to the franchise.

In comparison to past hits in the heist genre, the new installment has only earned about half of what the lowest-grossing Ocean’s movie made. It also trails behind Ben Affleck’s critically acclaimed film The Town, which made approximately $150 million worldwide on a budget of under $40 million. This stark contrast raises concerns about the direction of the heist movie genre.

“Tense, smartly written, and wonderfully cast, The Town proves that Ben Affleck has rediscovered his muse,”

states Rotten Tomatoes, where The Town holds a 92% approval rating. The film was pivotal in establishing Affleck as a force in directing after his successful debut with Gone Baby Gone and later winning the Best Picture Oscar for Argo.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer and featuring a star-studded cast including Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, and Morgan Freeman, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t currently holds a 61% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, critics have expressed mixed reviews, indicating that while the film attempts to revive familiar elements from the franchise, it ultimately fails to captivate audiences.

With the film now available on digital streaming platforms, industry experts are closely monitoring its impact on the franchise’s longevity. Fans of the series are left wondering what the future holds for this once-popular heist saga. Will the disappointing box office numbers lead to a reevaluation of the series, or could it pave the way for a fresh direction?

Stay tuned for updates as the industry reacts to these concerning box office results and what they mean for future films in the franchise. The performance of Now You See Me: Now You Don’t serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of the film industry.
