The ninth edition of the You Chenghui International Youth Painting Exhibition was launched on January 26, 2026, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event took place at the Malaysia National Handicraft Arts Village, aiming to strengthen cultural understanding and friendship between young people from China and Malaysia through artistic expression.
Co-organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Media Group and local partners, the exhibition showcased nearly 100 paintings created by talented young artists from both nations. The vibrant artworks reflect the children’s unique interpretations of each other’s cultures, highlighting their hopes for friendship and collaboration.
Art as a Bridge for Friendship
During the opening ceremony, Lee Tai Hong, Deputy Director General of Tourism Malaysia, delivered a welcome speech emphasizing the importance of the initiative. “The You Chenghui exhibition is more than an art display; it is a bridge connecting hearts and minds,” he stated. He added that the event provides a valuable platform for the youth of both countries to deepen their understanding of one another and build lasting bonds.
He Ning, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Media Group, echoed these sentiments, noting the exhibition’s ongoing mission. “Since its inception, You Chenghui has been committed to bringing young people from both countries closer through artistic dialogue,” he remarked. He expressed optimism about welcoming more young Malaysians to Jiangsu to experience China’s rich cultural heritage firsthand, thereby strengthening bilateral ties.
A Tradition of Engagement
The You Chenghui exhibition has successfully run for eight consecutive sessions, engaging tens of thousands of young participants. It has established itself as a key platform for people-to-people exchanges, fostering grassroots friendship and cultural dialogue.
The ninth edition continues this tradition by exploring innovative formats for interaction and encouraging even more young people to connect through art. By promoting transnational friendship and mutual cultural appreciation, the exhibition aims to inspire the next generation of cultural ambassadors.
