New Card Shop Lakeside Breaks Opens Doors in Sheffield Lake

BREAKING: A brand-new sports card and collectibles shop, Lakeside Breaks, has officially opened its doors in Sheffield Lake, bringing excitement to local hobbyists and collectors. The shop, located at 5388 E. Lake Road, offers a diverse array of trading cards, including baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and Pokémon cards, alongside celebrity and pop culture memorabilia.

The grand opening took place over the weekend, drawing significant foot traffic from eager collectors wanting to explore this vibrant new space. Co-owners Nick Scarpitti and Mike Gallipoli transitioned from a successful online sales model, which began in April 2023 through live-streaming on Whatnot, to a physical storefront after realizing the potential for a community hub centered around the card hobby.

“We were going live every day, building a community online,” Gallipoli explained. “Then we realized this could actually turn into a storefront.” The need for space arose as their home-based operation quickly outgrew its confines. “Nick started out of his house, and then it turned into, ‘I want my living room back,’” he added.

The shop not only sells a wide range of cards but actively encourages trade and purchases from customers, a feature that proved popular during their opening days. “We have a little bit of everything, but we focus a lot on Cleveland cards,” Gallipoli noted, highlighting the community’s interest in local athletes.

The collection has been built primarily through large purchases made since August, with Gallipoli admitting that some of the inventory is still being organized. “It’s a lot of cards, and some of it’s still disorganized, but that’s how we’ve built it up,” he stated.

Looking ahead, Lakeside Breaks aims to expand its offerings and foster community engagement by hosting trade nights and hobby gatherings. “There’s really not a card shop in Sheffield Lake,” Gallipoli emphasized. “We want this to be a fun place for people to hang out and get away from everyday stuff.”

Lakeside Breaks is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to about 2:30 p.m. and plans to offer Sunday hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Weekend hours may vary as they finalize their schedule. For more information, you can call 440-787-4940 or visit the store’s Facebook page.

The opening of Lakeside Breaks marks a significant addition to the Sheffield Lake community, creating a space for hobbyists to connect and share their passion for collecting. Stay tuned for more updates as this exciting new venture unfolds!
