UPDATE: A mother is now in stable condition following a tragic plane crash in Galveston Bay that claimed the lives of her young son and five others. The incident occurred on December 22 during a medical support mission, according to the Michou and Mau Foundation.
Julia Aracelis Cruz Vera has been extubated and is recovering at a local hospital, officials confirmed. The foundation reported that she and flight nurse Miriam de Jesús Rosas Mancilla are the sole survivors of the crash. Both women are now receiving necessary medical care after the devastating accident.
The Mexican Navy confirmed the aircraft involved was a Beech King Air 350i, which experienced an “accident” during its approach to Galveston. Eight people were aboard, comprising four crew members and four civilians. Tragically, six individuals lost their lives, including Cruz Vera’s son, Federico Efraín Ramírez Cruz, who was being transported for treatment at Shriners Children’s in Galveston.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash. In a statement, the Mexican Navy expressed condolences to the families of the victims and emphasized their commitment to uncovering the details surrounding this tragic incident.
